William Hoskins \”Œhoss\” Almond
William Hoskins \"Hoss\" Almond, 77, of Evington, VA, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2010. He was the husband of Nancy Burruss Almond.
Mr. Almond was born August 06, 1932 in, Lynchburg, a son of the late Edward Morton Almond and the late Mary Anderson Almond. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was retired from The United Postal Service. He attended In His Hands Ministries, and Langhorne Chapel Community Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Debra Almond Driskill of Forest and Lisa Almond Mayhew and fiancé, Darin Owens of Evington,; grandchildren, Shane Driskill, Emily Driskill and fiancé, Allan Moore, Jesse Driskill, Ryan Mayhew and Dakota Mayhew; step-grandsons, Bradley Owens and Dylan Owens; brothers, C. E. Almond and wife, Jackie of TN, and L. Thomas Almond and wife, Doris of Lynchburg; sisters, Mae Foster and husband, Warren of Lynchburg, and Peggy Lewis of Lynchburg; and a devoted friend, David Beasley, Sr. of Evington.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dove Almond Bibb.
Hoss\"™s family would like to thank Hospice of the Hills, nurse, Elizabeth, Dr. Joseph Khoury, Wanda Dagenhart, Pam Tomlin and Penny Brooks for the wonderful care that they provided.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg and other times at the residence. A celebration of Hoss\"™s life will be conducted at Tharp Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 7, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Home with Pastor Stewart Mitchell and Pastor Dwight Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park with military honors conducted by American Legion Post #16.
