William J. Lantz

William J Lantz, 90 of Bedford, Va, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 11, 2017. He was the loving husband of Mary Lantz. Bill was born Thursday, May 5, 1927 in Vinton, Va., a son of Alonza G. Lantz and Minnie J. Lantz. He was the youngest of their ten children.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, Leah Duvall, Floyd Hodges III (Cindy), and Antonio Oliver (Paul); nine grandchildren; and a special nephew, Maurice Fisher.

Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After the war, he had a 32 year career with for N.W. Railroad. He later worked in criminal justice for the department of alcohol and drugs as a residential technician. Bill was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford. A celebration of William’s life will take place at 12 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Bethesda United Methodist Church, Bedford. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Roanoke.
