William Kirkwood Dance, Sr. died December 7, 2014 in Lynchburg, VA.,
Kirk was born in Campbell County September 16, 1938. He was the son the late Frank Pendleton Dance and Loretta Harvey Dance. He was predeceased by his brother Frank Pendleton Dance, Jr. and his sister Frances Ann Dance.
Kirk is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janet Duke Dance, one son, William Kirkwood Dance, Jr. and his wife Debra who live in Lynchburg, and one daughter, Karen Dance Schwartz and her husband Michael who live in Macungie, Pennsylvania. The four grandchildren are Joshua Schwartz of New York City, Hilary Schwartz of Bloomington, Indiana, Benjamin Dance of Nashville, Tennessee, and Samantha Dance of Lynchburg.
Kirk is a graduate of Brookville High School, attended VMI and graduated from Lynchburg College with a degree in Physics. Kirk worked at General Electric in Lynchburg, Motorola in Chicago, Bulova Electronics in New York City, Hill Electronics in Pennsylvania, and a division of Erie Frequency Control in Cincinnati, Ohio. He formed Cincinnati Network, Oscillator and Crystal Corporation, known as CINOX, in Cincinnati, Ohio. After eventually selling CINOX, Kirk and Janet retired to Appomattox County where they built Stone Ridge and enjoyed fifteen years of country life. He and Janet later moved to Lynchburg and restored yet another older house. In his retirement he enjoyed the study of genealogy, rescuing stray animals and playing golf.
The funeral services will be private. Visitation will be at the family home in Lynchburg, on Sunday, December 14, 2014, from 2 to 4 o’clock.
