William Knight “ToJoe” Thomas, 84, of Lynchburg, VA, passed away Friday, July 22, 2016. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Hill Thomas.
Born in Buckingham County, June 7, 1932 to the late Tom Thomas and the late Murdis Gary Thomas. He was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.
William was a self-employed contractor. He was a member of Rose Chapel. He also served our country during the Korean Conflict and a past member of the American Legion Post 16.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: William Alexander (Debra), Victor Thomas (Peggy), Debra Thomas, Rhonda Thomas, Becky Baldwin, Ruth Thomas, Kelvin Thomas (Demetrise), Patricia Parrish (Anthony), Pamela Thomas, a devoted companion Joyce Farmer, extended family: Donnie Farmer, Lisa Farmer; four sisters: Marie Smith, Ella Hill, Eleanor Freer, Bernice Roane and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held in the Chapel at Heritage Baptist Church, 219 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502, at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016. Interment will follow in the Baptist Cemetery. Military honors provided by American Legion Post 16. A visitation will be held at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 26, 2016
