William “Bill” Lloyd Brandt, of Bedford, went to be with the Lord Sunday, November 8, 2015. He was the loving husband of Evelyn Louise Hogaboom Brandt for 64 years.

A son of the late Robert Irvine and Grace Edith Brandt, Bill was born February 12, 1928, in Dallas, Texas. He worked as a missionary spreading the word of God in Brazil for 40 years where he taught, repaired and flew airplanes, and trained people to operate radio stations. He earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rice University and taught math and physics in addition to his major. He worked as high school teacher from 1960 to 1973 before becoming a university professor. In 1992 he retired.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Robert Rice Brandt and wife, Rosilania, of Brazil; daughters, Grace Evelyn Pettman, of Bedford; Alma Ruth Waskey and husband, David, of Bedford; and Betty Jean de Oliveira and husband, Luciano, of Brazil; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Sally Brandt and Jean Rose.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James Howard Brandt; brother-in-law, James Hogaboom; sister-in-law, Ruth McBride.

A funeral service will be conducted at Tharp Funeral Chapel, Bedford, on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ron Cox officiating. The family will receive friends at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford, on Friday, November 13, 2015 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Interment will be private.
