William (Bill) McArthur Smith, 79, of Roanoke, Virginia, died peacefully at home on Friday, October 29, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.
His family knew him to be fun-loving father and outdoorsman when he was younger, teaching any kid that was interested in learning how to fish. His favorite place was anywhere in a boat. His professional career was in the industrial laundry business, where he excelled at solving problems for his customers. He loved his career in sales, and was proud of the work he put into the professional relationships he made while working.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William N. Smith and Helen Mae Hager of Louisville, Kentucky, a brother, Jack Smith and a sister, Barbara Cross.
He is survived by his two children, daughter Stacie (Shayne) Florer of Roanoke, Virginia, and son Shawn Smith of Fayetteville, Arkansas. He is also survived by two sisters, Joyce Young and Patty Johnston, along with his brother, Larry J. Smith.
His children will have a private memorial for him in the Spring of 2022.
