William Nine
William George Nine, 84, of Amherst died Sunday October 1, 2011 at his home. Bill leaves behind his beloved wife Jane Nine of 62 years.
Bill was born December 19, 1926 on Long Island, NY a son of the late William N. Nine and Margaret Pezakat Nine. William honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was retired from the Exxon Oil Company where he worked for 35 years. Bill was well known and liked in the Amherst Community. He volunteered with the Amherst Rescue Squad several years ago and he was a long-time volunteer at Appomattox Court House National Historic Park.
In addition to his wife he also leaves behind his daughter Robin Nine; son and daughter-in-law William and Cheryl; and two grandchildren Christopher and Kimberly, his sister and brother-in-law, Margaret (Peggy) and William Sexton.
A Celebration of Bill\"™s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday October 4, 2011 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home Madison Heights with the Rev. Michael Fitzgerald officiating.
In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to either charities that Bill held in high regard KNOM Radio Mission P.O. Box 988 Nome, AK 99762 or Heifer International 1 World Ave. Little Rock, AR 72202.
