William Samuel “Bill” Gilliam was born April 4, 1941 to the late Guthrie and Edna Gilliam. He was born in Lynchburg, VA and was raised most of his childhood in Lexington, VA, which he loved.
He was a maintenance worker at the Florida Air Academy in Melbourne, FL. He was a trade carpenter and he and his wife of 56 years, Eva McCormick Gilliam, built many homes in Lynchburg and Lexington.
He loved his family and his heavenly Father. He was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church. His special friend was his German Shepherd, Missy.
He is survived by his seven children: Teresa Nicely of Natural Bridge, Bill Gilliam of CA, Tammy Hodge of Hampton, VA, Tracy Gilliam of Melbourne, FL, Warren Gilliam of FL, Tina Leonard (Larry) of Bedford, Wendell Gilliam of Lynchburg; grandchildren Kristy, Lexi, Tiffany, Michael, and Steven (deceased); great-grandchildren Amaziah, Jordan, Olivia, Echo, Kal and Emma, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Donations can be made to Centra Hospice Care of Lynchburg or the Breast Cancer Society.
A private burial will be held for family members and friends.
