William Sherman Ford, 84, of Lynchburg died Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at his residence. He was the loving husband of Edna Rucker Ford for 65 years.
Born March 24, 1929 in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Joseph Edwin and Jessie Adkins Ford.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by a daughter, Starry F. Burns of Lynchburg, a son, Bill Graves Ford of Encinitas, CA. two sisters, Ann F. Tuck of Lynchburg
and Wendy Hollingsworth of Annandale, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl R. Ford, a son Terry G. Ford and three brothers, Henry, Edwin and Jesse Ford.
Bill was a machinist with Limitorque for 42 years, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Court Street United Methodist Church. Bill\"™s love of music was evidenced by singing in The Chorus of The Blue Ridge as well as a group he affectionately called \"His\" quartet. Bill sang in the choir of Centenary United Methodist Church for 52 years and also the choir of Court Street United Methodist Church.
A funeral service will be conducted in Court Street United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 22, 2013 by the Rev. Dr. Edwin Clever and the Reverend C. Douglas Pillow. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence.
