William Underwood

William Norman Underwood

January 1, 1954 - February 5, 2024

Born in Massachusetts to the late William Allen and the late Norma Lee Underwood on January 1, 1954,  Bill was brought to Virginia, kicking and screaming in 1968. He grew up in Lynchburg and it was there that Bill met his beloved wife of 48 years, Jody. They raised three children, Rebecca, Sara and William. Bill enjoyed a lifelong career as an auto mechanic. He loved cars of all types and NASCAR. He collected Hot Wheels and Matchboxes and could be found in the aisles of Walmart at 3:00 a.m. to get the best picks first.

His grandchildren were the lights of his life, Devin, Tamlyn, Braelyn, Paisley and Jessah made his world complete. The new puppy, Dakota, was his constant companion.

Bill enjoyed reminiscing about family, the past, the future and their childhood with his sister Lee-Ellen. His nephew, Daniel, was his kindred spirit.

Along with his parents, Bill was predeceased by his youngest sister, Holly, only six months ago.

Bill enjoyed a wide circle of friends and will be missed by all.
