William Waldo Johnson

William Waldo Johnson, 75, of Bedford, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family Friday, March 18, 2016. He was the loving husband of Dorothy Mitchell Johnson.
Born March 4, 1941 in Bedford, he was the son of the late Waldo Mortimer Johnson and Eunice Mitchell Johnson. William proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.
In addition to his wife, William is survived by his children: Waldo David Johnson and wife, Cheryl, Sharon Rena Johnson, William Leonard Johnson, and wife, Nicole, Elizabeth Johnson Rickman and husband, Matt; seven grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.
The family request’s memorial contributions in William’s name be made to Sons of the Confederacy, P.O. Box 605 Orange, VA 22960.
A graveside service will be held Monday, March 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Johnson Family Cemetery with Carl Wells officiating.
The family will receive friends Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Tharp Funeral Home from 6:00.-7:00 p.m.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, is assisting the family.
