Yvonnie Ferguson

On Friday morning August 9, 2024, Yvonnie Sonja Taylor Ferguson 87 of Lynchburg, VA answered the master's call at her residence. She was born May 9, 1937, to the late John E. McCoy, Sr. and Marian Marie McCoy. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Theodore R. Ferguson Sr.; son, Anthony D. Ferguson Sr.; one great-granddaughter, Leighna Grace Ferguson; five sisters, Vernia C. West, Annie D. Christian, Mary O. Garris, Johnie M. Zirker, and Irene V. Keith. 

Yvonnie accepted Christ at an early age at Lawyers Chapel Baptist Church in Lynchburg, VA. She graduated from William Campbell High School in Rustburg, VA. Yvonnie retired from General Electric Company. 

She leaves to cherish her loving memory four children, Theodore R. Ferguson Jr.(Velma) of Lynchburg, VA; Minnie F. Giles of Madison Heights, VA; Michael D. Ferguson of Lynchburg, VA; and Tina L. Bryant of Roanoke, VA. One brother, John E. McCoy Jr.(Cathy) of Ypsilanti, MI. Eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. 

The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg with a funeral service to follow in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Briarwood Memorial Garden.
