Zane Lee Robertson, 35, of Lynchburg, joined his Creator in Heaven on Monday, April 4, 2016. He was the husband of Sarah Puckette Robertson and father of two sons.
Born February 6, 1981, in Lynchburg, Zane was the son of Bill & Elaine Robertson and Terry & Linda Brown, of Lynchburg and son-in-law of Steve & Edna Puckette, of Forest.
In addition to his wife and parents, Zane is survived by his sons, Hunter William and Walker Lee. He is also survived by his sisters and their families; Wendy & Timmy McFaden (Tyler & Madison) and Lori & Thomas Sweeney (Landon & Lawson) as well as his brother-in-law Rob Puckette and wife, Maggie.
Zane was preceded in death by his grandparents, Loyd & Virginia Robertson and Ernest & Eura Thurman.
Zane had a passion for life. He was a devoted husband and father, loving son and brother, and loyal friend and mentor to many. Zane could quickly light up a room with his witty sense of humor. He considered himself a Hokie and made many memories with lifelong friends at VA Tech. He had a love of the outdoors, especially hunting with his dad. Zane was hard working, committed, and was always willing to accept and welcome a new challenge. His attention to detail and perfection were exhibited through all of his projects, as he loved working with his hands. He was a key component of the Southern Landscape Group, Inc. organization who helped to create and establish the concept of teamwork. Zane connected deeply with people at work and in his community and was always willing to selflessly lend a hand to those in need. He spent many cherished years as part of the fire service, first at Boonsboro Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company, and for the last ten years at Brookville-Timberlake Volunteer Fire Department. Zane’s greatest loves in life were his family and being a part of the brotherhood of firefighters.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2016, at Timberlake United Methodist Church. A Celebration of Zane’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Timberlake United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Lynne Alley-Grant officiating.
