Zelma M. Coleman, 85, of Lynchburg, Virginia departed life Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born January 16, 1934 on Exuma Grand Island in Nassau, Bahamas. Zelma is preceded in death by her mother, Mable Major of Nassau, Bahamas and the late McDaniel Major of Lynchburg, Virginia. She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Ava (Gery Megginson); her son, Donald Coleman, Sr.; her grandchildren, Donald Coleman, Jr., Montez Jordan, Xavier Coleman, and Travion Napier; her great-grandchildren, Kassidy, Tristan, and Karsen Jordan; her half-brother, Gregory Major of Lynchburg, Virginia; nieces Najawa and Cecily Major; her siblings, Edna, Donnie, Odley, Deloris, and June; and a host of other relatives from the Bahama Islands.
Zelma was a dedicated employee of the Williams Home, Inc. for over 20 years. She was a God-fearing soul who loved the Lord, her children, and her family. She was a strong, quiet woman who enjoyed singing the Lord’s praise in different Gospel singing groups throughout her life.
The family is receiving Friends and family at her daughter’s home, 726 Lyle Thomas Road, Concord VA. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 26 at 12:00 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg.
