Daniel Carroll Miller

April 12, 1958 - November 20, 2022

Danny Miller, age 64, of Forest, VA left this earth to go to his heavenly home on Sunday November 20th, 2022 surrounded by family at his residence.

Danny was born April 12, 1958 in Waynesboro, VA to the late David “Dick” and Martha Zudell Miller. Danny grew up in Augusta County, VA on his family’s farm surrounded by the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains.

Danny was a deeply valued employee of Framatome for 30 years in the Nuclear Field Services Division. Prior to that, he was employed by Industrial Machine Works in Waynesboro, VA for 15 years.

To say that Danny was an avid turkey hunter would be an understatement. It was a passion of his not only for the love of the sport but for the time, tradition, and memories of sharing that love with his father and brothers. In addition to those times, Danny also loved sharing his knowledge and experiences with young people by introducing them to the sport of turkey hunting. During the off-season, you could find Danny under the hood of his ’65 Chevelle, at the local drag strip or a car show.

Danny was never idle. He always had a project (or many) underway. Danny enjoyed trout fishing, working in his yard, woodworking, and especially his time helping his brother on the farm. As much as he loved all these things, they paled in comparison to the love he felt for his wife, daughter, family and friends. All who knew Danny knew that he was hardworking, authentically himself, and had an endless sense of humor.

Danny is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kim Miller; daughter, Amanda “Mandi” Miller of Alexandria, VA; brothers, David (Billie) of Standardsville, VA, Ronnie (Sue) of Bath County, VA and Eddie (Lisa) of Waynesboro, VA; sister-in-law, Glenna (Will) Lyle of Waynesboro, VA and many nieces that were close to his heart.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the overwhelming love and support they have received from so many including but not limited to Dr. Emaculate Tebit, the nurses and staff at the Alan B Pearson Cancer Center in Lynchburg for their dedication, love and support; Seven Hills Hospice for their incredible care and compassion; their neighborhood “street people” for sharing their love,  and especially Danny’s Framatome Family who have been ever present throughout this journey in all ways.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2 PM Sunday November 27th, 2022 at The Well located at 19 George St Lynchburg, VA 24502 with Pastor Tom Bryant officiating followed by a reception at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to The Wildlife Federation of Virginia PO Box 62 Norge, VA 23127 www.vawildlife.org or Friends of Bedford County Animal Shelter 906 Ebenezer Rd Amherst, VA 24521 www.friendsofbedfordcountyanimalshelter.rescuegroups.org.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.

Danny's yard, always the envy of the neighbors. We will miss seeing you walking the dogs, riding up the street in your hot rod and street side talks.

Gonna miss you Danny. You were one of a kind. You taught me a lot and always made me laugh. I will never forget calling you when my in-laws had moles in their yard. You showed up in less than 20 min in a sleeveless shirt and carrying a baseball bat ready to kill em all. My family was dying laughing. Rest easy my friend!

My son had the privlage of spending time with Danny and going for a ride in his “race car”. When I told him today about Danny he said, he’s probably having the best day of his life because he has all those race cars up there with him. Danny will forever be missed. His humor and his story telling will never be rivaled though many will try. His love of being in the mountains while hunting or simply eating was always a passion he talked about. Danny’s spirit will live on through those of us in the field and he will never be replaced nor forgotten.
