Wanda Kay Tucker Garbee

January 17, 1957 - January 1, 2023

Wanda Kay Tucker Garbee, 65, completed her earthly journey and walked into heaven with her infectious smile on her face on January 1, 2023, at home surrounded by family.

Wanda was born in Lynchburg, Virginia on January 17, 1957. She is the daughter of the late Luther Watkins Tucker and Bertha Tuggle Tucker. She is preceded in death by her loving brother Terrell Watkins Tucker. Left to cherish her memory is daughter Taylor Leigh Garbee (Shane), her precious grandson SJ Bieri, pay back granddaughter Maggie Kay Bieri, her big man Leo, fluffy RoseyLucyLila, as well as her aunts, uncle, and precious Cuz’s.  Her legacy will be carried on with cooking, beach trips, fine wine and many laughs by her loving sisters.

She retired after 44 dedicated years from Limitorque/Flowserve. She was a dedicated member of Thomas Road Baptist Church. Her greatest joys of life were her family, friends, spreading her love through her food and cooking, and continuing to recreate a scene from Bambi in her back yard with all the animals.

For many years, Wanda battled with her health. Although all her diagnosis were rare, she saw this as an opportunity to continue educating her wonderful healthcare team and keep them from getting bored. Through it all her faith was unshakable and her light and love for Jesus radiated through to all she encountered. The family would like to especially thank her precious all purpose provider Dr. John Macneill, her team at The Spa (4 east), all her loving caretakers at Pearson Cancer Center, and her host of caretakers at UVA.

Her daughter would like to thank Shane, Alice, Pam, Gail, Debbie, Carolyn, Chuck, Auntie Ann, The SeaGals, Michael and favorite Wife-in-Law Donna Garbee. A special thanks to Randy Bower for his spiritual leadership as he helped guide her home.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg, Va. Visitation will start at 10:00 a.m. and the service will begin at 11:30 a.m., with interment to follow the service at Fort Hill Cemetery. She will be lying in repose on Friday, January 6, 2023, at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg, Va. Family will accept friends at other times at the residence.

Memorial contributions can be made to Lynchburg Humane Society (1211 Old Graves Mill Road, Lynchburg Va.) or Thomas Road Baptist Church Middle School Orlando Trip on behalf of SJ Bieri (1 Mountain View Road, Lynchburg Va.) at http://trbcmissions.managedmissions.com/Donations/Donate/63521.

From the first day I met Wanda she was one of the sweetest women I had ever met. She was always pleasant, polite, approachable (all the above and more). I will always miss her smile at Flowserve. Heaven must have needed one more angel. My prayer is that God wraps his arms around the family and friends and comfort them. R.I.P Wanda.

If You Could See Where I Have Gone If you could see where I have gone, The beauty of this place, And how it feels to know you’re home, To see the Saviors’ face. To wake in peace and know no fear, just joy beyond compare. While still on earth, you miss me yet, you wouldn’t want me there, If you could see where I have gone. If you could see where I have gone, had made the trip with me, You’d know I didn’t go alone. The Savior came with me. When I awoke, He was by my side, and reached out his hand, Said, "Hurry Child you’re coming home to a grand and glorious land, Don’t worry over those you love, for I’m not just with you, And don’t you know, with you at home, they’ll long to be here too". If you could see where I have gone, and see what I’ve been shown, You’d never know another tear, or ever feel alone. You’d marvel at the care of God, His hand on every life, And realize he really cares, and bears with us each strife, And that he weeps when one is lost. His heart is filled with pain, But oh! the joy when one comes home, a child is home again. If you could see where I have gone, could stay awhile with me, Could share the things that God has made, to grace eternity. But no, you could never leave, once Heavens’ joy you’d known, You couldn’t beat to walk earth’s paths, once Heaven was your home. If you could see where I have gone, you’d know we’ll meet someday, And though I’m parted from you now, that I am just away. So, thank you family, thank you friends, for living for the Lord, For teaching me to love Him, to trust Him and His word, And now, that I’m at home with Him. secure in every way, I’m waiting here at Heaven’s door, to greet you some sweet day.

Wanda, I have never met someone with a better personality. She was a hard worker and adjusted to many changes at Limitorque. I worked with her most of those years and never saw her down. Her smile and laugh were the the best. I am sure we will never find a better person.
