Albert Davis transitioned on Monday February 13, 2023 at the age of 84.

Albert Davis of Lynchburg, VA, son of the late Edmond W. Davis and Rosa Goode Davis was born August 16, 1938, in Forest, Virginia.  He departed this life peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his children on February 13, 2023.  Albert leaves behind a true legacy of integrity, loyalty, kindness, and devotion.

Albert served his country in the United States Army for several years prior to returning home to marry the love of his life.  He was employed with Lynchburg Foundry until he retired in 1999 after 30 years of service.

Albert was a very hard-working, devoted, caring, fun-loving, and easy-going person.  Those who knew Albert well, remember him as always being a gracious host.  He always enjoyed entertaining family and friends and playing a friendly game of cards or dominos.  He was always a joy to be around and loved to joke and see people laugh.

Albert joined Altha Grove Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful member until God called him home.  He served on the Usher Board Ministry for over 40 years and later became an Honorary Usher.

In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years Gladene Sandidge Davis, all eleven of his siblings, Lelia, James, Giles, Paul, Moses, Charlie, Virginia, Lucy, Edmond, Emma, and Pauline.  Albert Leaves to cherish his memory one son Michael A. Davis (Jeanette), two daughters Vanessa D. White, and Wanda D. Goldman (Brian),  grandchildren Zachary Pennix, Zebulon Goldman, and Zena Goldman; step-grandchild Pierre Pennix; step-great-grandchildren Damari Pennix and Akirra Stockwell and three devoted sisters in laws Barbara Davis Johnson (William), Doris Smith (Howard), Gail Musser, and three brother-in-laws Leon Sandidge(Joan), Wayne Sandidge(Ruth), Gordon Sandidge(Yvonne), and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg Chapel. A visitation will be on Friday, February 17, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg Chapel. Interment will follow the service at the Altha Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
