Earl William Brown, Sr.

March 7, 2022

With deep sorrow the Brown Family announces the passing of Earl William Brown Sr., 75, of Campbell County, VA, who departed this life on March 7, 2022, in the presence of loved ones.

Earl is preceded in death by his son Cornelius P., brother Daniel Brown Jr., sister Veola Brewer, and parents Daniel and Hilda Brown.

He will be forever missed by his loving wife Cora M; three sons Jose (Maggie), Earl II, and Cordell (Allison); four grandchildren Martisha, Cordell Sakai, Kristen Delaney, and Naomi Kelis; siblings Alice Silver (Earl) and Lois Roberts; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Earl was incredibly passionate about hard work and being at your best.  He was always supportive and spoke positively in any situation. He was a dedicated employee of BWXT as a Quality Control Inspector, where he spent over 40 years of his life until his retirement.  He had the love of God in his heart, and it showed having been baptized at an early age at Bethany Baptist Church. He enjoyed being an usher when he attended church regardless if he was scheduled to do so or not.  He would often watch western television shows or as he would refer as cowboy pictures. He loved his family as they were everything to him.

He is irreplaceable and will forever be missed.

We love you, Earl!!!

Celebrate Earl William's life with a short message, photo or video!

My Poppop was the best grandfather I could have ever asked for. I'm going to miss the times where he would say "be good" when we left the house to go back home and times he would sneak us candy when mom and dad said no. But the thing that I will always remember from my Poppop is that he always had a brave face even when he had racism thrown at him left and right back in the day. I'm going to remember all the stories he told me and when a situation get thrown at me i'm going to keep that same brave face on like my once Poppop did. Rest in peace Love you Poppop!! -Delaney

My inspiration for hard work, determination, dedication, and opportunity. He set the foundation to my success that I later built upon. He wasn't a man of many words, so when he spoke you listened because what followed was a profound jewel of life. I was able to learn a lot from the obstacles he shared. He gave me advice on how to view life, while always seemingly finding a silver lining to even the most difficult moments. What I learn the most from Dad was give it all that you got and never give up, as what you do today, sets the path for tomorrow. I will miss you dad! Rest in Paradise!

I worked with Earl the last 10 years that he was with BWXT. He was a true friend and would help anyone with his amazing knowledge. I went to his Retirement dinner and enjoyed meeting his wife. He will be missed but his legacy will go on through his family. My thoughts and my prayers are with you in this time of sorrow.

My condolences go out to the Brown family. I’m so sad to hear of his passing. I always asked Earl at work if he ever took a day off. I was happy for him that he finally retired and lived life outside of BWXT. Prayers for all his friends and family.
