Wanda Louise Templeton, 91, of Lynchburg passed away on April 4, 2023. She was born on January 3, 1932, to the late Bert Louis Neely and Jewel Ferrell Neely.
Wanda was born in Tonkawa, Oklahoma and moved to California in 1936 to escape the dust bowl. She lived in California until 1954. In 1952 she met the love of her life, Lt. Harold Templeton, while he was working at McCellan Air Force Base. The couple married two years later. Wanda was an active member of Peakland Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She was also an avid golfer and once hit a hole-in-one on the course at Boonsboro Country Club, where she was a member for many years. Wanda was also a proud member of the Boonsboro Women’s Golf Association. In addition to her golfing activities, Wanda was past president and a longtime member of the Inglewood Garden Club. In her later years, she and Harold moved to Westminster Canterbury.
In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by two brothers; Bill and Jack, one sister; June, and one daughter in law; Kathy. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Harold Templeton, two daughters; Connie Hamilton (Don) and Debbie Anderson, one son; Marvin Tempelton, eight grandchildren; Meghan, Chase, Jessica, Jenna, Rachael, Matt, Sage, and Logan, 5 great grandchildren; Landon, Laurel, Lilly, Lyla, and Olivia.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 10, 2023, at Peakland Baptist Church at 11 a.m.
Inurnment will be private.
